Falstaff Hotel in Canterbury ReviewMonday 22 Mar 2010 13:26 Hotel Reviews Tags: falstaff, hotel, reviews, canterbury, kent The Falstaff Hotel in Canterbury is ideally placed for visitors, just a few yards from the West Gate Towers entrance to the shopping centre and within a few minutes walks of some wonderful cafes and restaurants. It is about 5 minutes walk through the beautiful cobbled streets to Canterbury Cathedral, a World Heritage Site. The hotel dates back around 600 years and offers a good range of rooms, the rooms in the main part of the hotel offer all the features you would expect in a hotel this age beams, 4 Poster Beds and uneven floors and they have also cleverly converted the old Wood Mill Building in the car park into further rooms.
The rooms above are in the Woodmill, they were clean, modern, well furnished and quite large. We were very pleased with the small table next to the patio doors, great for relaxing with a coffee. The rooms at the front of the hotel can be a little noisy and cold in the winter, something you expect with older buildings, but the ones in the Wood Mill were lovely and quiet. The hotel offers a great breakfast which includes cooked breakfast and cereals, fruit etc, but my recommendation for dinner would be to head to town and try out one of the amazing restaurants in town. We are partial to a Moroccan restaurant called Cafe Mauresque which is situated near the Cathedral. Would we return to The Falstaff, indeed in fact we have just booked for our 3rd stay with them so I cannot give you any better recommendation. related: Comments (0) |
