The Magic Fountain of Montjuic - BarcelonaTuesday 07 Aug 2007 12:57 Barcelona Tags: fountain, magic, montjuic, barcelona, tourism, holidays, attractions When we arrived in Barcelona our lovely taxi driver gave us a run down of what to go and see, she raved about the Monjuic Fountain so we went to see it and liked it so much we went again the following night as well.
The shows are held Thursday - Sunday evenings from 8pm to midnight in the Summer and Friday & Saturday in the winter from 7pm - 9pm, shows run every 1/2 hour. The fountain first performed in 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition, it took 3000 workers nearly a year to complete and at the time was though to complex to complete let along to work. But nearly 80 years on this is a wonderful attraction and I would highly recommend it to visitors to Barcelona. It gets extremely busy so if you struggle to stand for a while I suggest you get there early to bag a seat on the steps overlooking the fountain. For me it rounded off some wonderful nights out in Barcelona, you go out have a lovely leisurely meal then jump of the subway and head toward Monjuic to watch the final show of the evening. Rather than me waxing lyrical about this just check out the video footage below, it doesn't really do it justice but it will give you a better idea than I can describe. related: Comments (0) |
